Gold Sundering storm bow 15-28 +
Hi,
I was asked to swop my bow for the above one, and was happy to do so, mine was a purple and different name but almost same stats. I asked why they wanted to swop for mine when there's was slightly better and they said because of the high attribute needed to use it (Ranger was only there second prof) I accepted and we swapped. They now want it back? what should I do, any advice appreciated. The user said they paid 80k for it, and I cant understand if you did that why you would give it away - anyhoo I digress thanks for your help |

Dude, if he traded it to you, he has no right to damand it back. You can trade back if you want, but It'd sell for a large price, depending on the mods.
I personally wouldn't trade back, as he made his decision and if it was a bad one then he has to learn from it. Just remember, if he claims that he will report you to Anet, tell him to bugger off. He has no power over you and you don't have to do anything he wants. |

It is just a question of how kind you are. If you want to be a nice person then give it back.

Here is what probably happened. This is a player fairly new to GW. They purchased a fair amount of gold. Purchased this bow and thought that a higher REQ what allow them to do more damage. They then thought you did not know what you were doing so they asked you to trade. They then found out that was not the case and want it back. So i think they tried to take advantage of you first. So judge for yourself.

well that bow probably isn't worth that much with the 11 marks req. I'd keep it. You don't get many things given to you in this game. Offer to sell it back to him and if he says no then too bad for him.

Update
Thanks for your help guys,
update: They have changed my original bow so that it is now A sundering shadowbow of marksmanship (gold) and want to keep this as well they want me to have and Ambar Longbow of fortitude 15-28 damage +15, health + 29. I guess this player has a lot of exp/resources available to them so If I cant get my original back I think I'm going to stick them on ignore? wish life was more simple |

Um... I'm not sure I understood what you wrote. You can't change bow types (for example, purple does not change in to gold, and stormbows can't change into shadowbows).
I think you got the better deal, no need to take your old purple back. Sounds like this guy is just trying to scam you, I suggest ignoring them completely before they get you in serious trouble. |

That's his fault for making the mistake so don't trade it back. Either offer to sell it back to him but if he doesn't want too then screw him.

If I were you I would just ignore this guy. I hate when noob trade scammers (yes there is such thing as noob scammers) try to do this crap. I've gotten the whole trade scam where they trade something and want it back or they buy something and then want some money back because they only wanted to pay 10k out of 15k... I've seen tons of scams and if this guy really wants his bow back he would either pay for it or trade you back your original bow for his. But as soon as he hits accept and you hit accept the trade is done there are no trade backs unless you decide to retrade him. So if you're pleased with the trade just keep the bow and send this guy to the ignore list for a couple days. Some scammers are scammed by themselves and I just laugh at these guys, because they try so hard to scam you and then they mess up and try to act like they weren't scamming you. So just ignore the guy and if he keeps harassing you just send a good 'ol report down to the friendly people at Anet.

Thanks
Many thanks all who replied, I will take your advice, and if there is ever a next time, not get into any discussion about it with the trader.
Best regards |

Agree, put them on your ignore list and be done with. If some random people start pm rude msg to you after this, report them to anet.
BTW who are these "they"? Are they your guildies? or just random people from pugs? |

I guess this proves one of the golden rules to trading
"don't trade anything or for anything that you don't know anything about" |

these guys are right, Put him on ignore...I waited for a hour in TOA for a guy who was trading me 85 k for a shiro, (he said his party went into fow) when he got out, after i had waited an hour, he tried to scam me into selling it for 8500 gold, these are the guys that ignore lists are made for...You did the right thing, checked your trade and you are happy with the item you have, Thats good enough...
